The winning team had 47 (or was it 48?) correct answers out of 60 - (I just know it was more than my team got!) and were rewarded with mini choc bars. Win or lose it was fun afternoon with lots of chat and laughs.
On Thursday 13th we had our annual plant identification quiz. A humbling experience for most of us! 6 teams of members with 6 trays circulating, each with 10 specimens of leaves and/or a flower for us to ponder over and hopefully recognise - often a vain hope! Frequently heard was the refrain - "I recognise that! I've got some in my garden, but can't remember the name!" There was a beautiful bit of deep purple Salvia. As an admittedly deeply ignorant gardening club member, all I could tell husband was - I don't know what it's called but we used to have a red one of those in a pot on the patio. It didn't trigger any memories in him - so that was another point missed! I was very gratified to be proved right when we heard the answers!
