She told us about the work on her new garden, which involved the spreading of two tons of manure, following which, she became known locally as The Manure Lady! As roses are her first love, they will predominate, but she is also experimenting with Camellias.
She went on to tell us about her recent travels to learn about gardens across the world, including Japan and Madeira, and accompanied her talk with lots of beautiful slides.
After a break for tea and biscuit, we proceeded to our plant exchange. This month members had brought so many items that it seemed to go on for ever, with everyone having two, and some even three choices! I had my eye on some fresh rhubarb, but husband wanted me to choose a plant instead. But came my second choice and it was still unclaimed, so it came home with me and made a tasty rhubarb crumble - thank you to whoever donated that!
